SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
requesting the aha moku advisory committee to engage stakeholders in order to develop and adopt rules for its operation and administration.
WHEREAS, the Aha Moku Advisory Committee was authorized pursuant to Act 288, Session Laws of Hawaii 2012 (Act 288); and
WHEREAS, the legislative intent in authorizing the Aha Moku Advisory Committee included providing an opportunity for Hawaiians to work together to exhibit that traditional Hawaiian values and customs could be applicable to modern governmental affairs; and
WHEREAS, it was the intent of the Legislature in passing Act 288 that the Aha Moku Advisory Committee have some independence from state government to reflect its role of working alongside and advising state government with regard to Hawaiian traditions, values, and practices; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2015, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Aha Moku Advisory Committee, with assistance from the Department of Land and Natural Resources and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, is requested to engage stakeholders for the purpose of developing and adopting rules for its operation and administration; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Aha Moku Advisory Committee report back to the Legislature regarding the development and adoption of rules no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2016; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Chair of the Aha Moku Advisory Committee, Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, and Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
