Section
1.
Section
22.2,
Code
2024,
is
amended
by
adding
the
1
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
3A.
Whether
for
in-person
examination
and

copying
of
a
public
record
under
subsection
1
or
electronic
4
examination
and
copying
of
a
public
record
under
subsection
3,
5
a
government
body
may
provide
the
requested
public
record
or
6
the
information
contained
in
a
public
record
in
any
reasonable
7
format.
A
government
body
is
not
required
to
provide
the
8
public
record
or
the
information
contained
in
a
public
record
9
in
the
format
requested
if
a
comparable
alternative
is
provided
10
by
the
government
body.

2.
NEW
SECTION
.
22.17
Public
records
accessible
by
12
internet.
13
Notwithstanding
any
provision
of
this
chapter
to
the
14
contrary,
a
government
body
is
not
required
to
provide
a
15
copy
of
a
public
record
that
is
published
on
the
government
16
body’s
internet
site
and
is
accessible
to
the
public.
The
17
government
body
shall
notify
the
requester
that
the
information
18
is
available
and
direct
the
requester
to
the
internet
site
19
location
where
the
public
record
can
be
found.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
22
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
open
records
requests.
The
bill
24
authorizes
a
government
body
to
provide
a
requested
public
25
record
in
a
reasonable
format.
A
government
body
is
not
26
required
to
provide
the
public
record
in
the
format
requested
27
if
a
comparable
alternative
is
provided.
28
The
bill
also
provides
that
if
a
public
record
is
published
29
on
a
government
body’s
internet
site,
the
government
body
does
30
not
need
to
provide
a
copy
of
the
public
record
but
must
notify
31
the
requester
of
the
public
record’s
internet
site
location.
