House Resolution 107 - Introduced PAG LIN HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. BY OURTH, HAGENOW, SMITH, BALTIMORE, and BAUDLER 1 1 A Resolution honoring the Iowa State Patrol and 1 2 recognizing Iowa State Trooper Joseph William Long's 1 3 meritorious service. 1 4 WHEREAS, on February 18, 2016, Iowa State Trooper 1 5 Joseph Long was stationed at the west checkpoint of the 1 6 Iowa State Capitol Building when he was dispatched to 1 7 Room G02 to respond to a report of an individual who 1 8 had collapsed; and 1 9 WHEREAS, upon arriving on the scene at 10:06 a.m. 1 10 and noticing an adult male lying on the floor with 1 11 blood coming from the back of his head, Trooper Long 1 12 immediately called for rescue, determined the victim 1 13 had no pulse, and began performing cardiopulmonary 1 14 resuscitation (CPR); and 1 15 WHEREAS, as a trained and certified emergency 1 16 medical technician, Trooper Long followed through with 1 17 a series of chest compressions and related procedures 1 18 that revived the victim, who has since made a full 1 19 recovery; and 1 20 WHEREAS, the Iowa House of Representatives stands 1 21 in honor of the Iowa State Patrol and its commitment 1 22 to excellence, and its many brave public servants who, 1 23 like Trooper Long, exemplify everything for which the 1 24 Iowa State Patrol has proudly stood since 1935: honor, 1 25 integrity, courage, and undaunted service to the people 1 26 of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE, 1 27 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 1 28 That Iowa State Trooper Joseph William Long deserves 2 1 commendation from the people of Iowa for meritorious 2 2 service in the line of duty resulting in the saving of 2 3 a human life.
