University
of
Iowa
women’s
basketball

program
(the
Hawkeyes)
entered
the
Big
Ten
tournament

with
a
23-6
record;
and

WHEREAS,
after
an
exhilarating
three
games,
the

Hawkeyes
clinched
the
Big
Ten
Championship
Title
for

the
second
year
in
a
row
and
proceeded
on
to
the
9
2023
National
Collegiate
Athletic
Association
(NCAA)

tournament;
and
11
WHEREAS,
the
Hawkeyes
won
five
out
of
the
six
games
12
played
during
the
NCAA
tournament,
managing
to
beat
the
13
number
one
ranked
team
and
previous
champions
on
their

way
to
the
championship
match;
and

WHEREAS,
the
Hawkeyes
ended
the
season
as
the
NCAA

national
runner-up
with
a
total
of

wins,
the
most
in

program
