Bill Title: Amends the Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registration Act. Provides that the period of registration shall be 5 years (currently, 10 years). Provides that the period of extended registration imposed for failure to register shall be equal to the period during which the offender failed to register (currently, 10 years). Provides that if the period of registration is extended, a registered letter shall also be sent to the offender (currently, only to local law enforcement). Provides that the penalty for failure to register or providing false information is a Class B misdemeanor (currently, Class 3 felony), a second or subsequent violation is a Class A misdemeanor (currently, Class 2 felony).
