AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 603
AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 603 by replacing
everything after the enacting clause with the following:
"Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
10-22.3g as follows:
(105 ILCS 5/10-22.3g new)
Sec. 10-22.3g. Insurance coverage for students;
catastrophic injuries. A school board in a school district
maintaining grades 9 through 12 shall maintain catastrophic
health insurance coverage, not subject to any annual or
lifetime maximum benefit, for students who sustain an injury
that results in medical expenses of $50,000 or more while
participating in an athletic activity under the jurisdiction of
or sponsored or controlled by the school district.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
