735 ILCS 5/13-227 new

Amends the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that an action to collect a debt arising from a violation of a municipal ordinance may not be filed more than 7 years after the date of adjudication. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5adding Section 13-227 as follows:
6 (735 ILCS 5/13-227 new)
7 Sec. 13-227. Collection of debt arising from a municipal
8violation. An action to collect a debt arising from a
9violation of a municipal ordinance may not be filed more than 7
10years after the date of adjudication.
11 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.
