1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 is
5amended by changing Section 5.5 as follows:
6 (225 ILCS 95/5.5)
7 (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028)
8 Sec. 5.5. Billing. A physician assistant shall not be
9allowed to personally bill patients or in any way charge for
10services. The The employer of a physician assistant may charge
11for services rendered by the physician assistant. All claims
12for services rendered by the physician assistant shall be
13submitted using the physician assistant's national provider
14identification number as the rendering provider whenever
15appropriate. Payment for services rendered by a physician
16assistant shall be made to his or her employer if the payor
17would have made payment had the services been provided by a
18physician licensed to provide medicine in all of its branches.
