Bill Title: Amends the School Boards and the Chicago School District Articles of the School Code. In provisions concerning identification cards, and suicide prevention information, removes the option to have a local suicide prevention hotline number on the card. Repeals certain provisions concerning student identification cards. Effective July 1, 2023.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Sections
510-20.81 and 34-18.75 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.81)
7 Sec. 10-20.81. Identification cards; suicide prevention
8information. Each school district that serves pupils in any of
9grades 6 through 12 and that issues an identification card to
10pupils in any of grades 6 through 12 shall provide contact
11information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
12(988), the Crisis Text Line, and either the Safe2Help Illinois
13helpline or a local suicide prevention hotline or both on the
14identification card. The contact information shall identify
15each helpline that may be contacted through text messaging.
16The contact information shall be included in the school's
17student handbook and also the student planner if a student
18planner is custom printed by the school for distribution to
19pupils in any of grades 6 through 12.
