SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
105 ILCS 5/2-3.196 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that, in consultation with education stakeholders, the State Board of Education shall develop and adopt a comprehensive literacy plan for the State on or before October 1, 2023. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
52-3.196 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.196 new)
7 Sec. 2-3.196. Comprehensive literacy plan. In consultation
8with education stakeholders, the State Board of Education
9shall develop and adopt a comprehensive literacy plan for the
10State on or before October 1, 2023.
11 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.
