SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
20 ILCS 2310/2310-735 new

    Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall, in consultation with appropriate agencies and organizations, establish a public awareness campaign to assist the public in understanding the harm of abusing fentanyl, with certain requirements.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4    Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and
5Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
6amended by adding Section 2310-735 as follows:
7    (20 ILCS 2310/2310-735 new)
8    Sec. 2310-735. Fentanyl Awareness Campaign. The Department
9shall, in consultation with appropriate agencies and
10organizations, establish a public awareness campaign to assist
11the public in understanding the harm of abusing fentanyl. As
12part of the campaign, the Department shall:
13        (1) establish a public awareness campaign on the harm
14 of abusing fentanyl and disseminate information via
15 brochures and the Department's website; and
16        (2) provide reference materials concerning and contact
17 information for relevant drug addiction treatment
18 programs.
