Bill Title: Amends the Board of Higher Education Act. Provides that the Board of Higher Education may, in its discretion, consider and grant requests to approve institution-specific policies permitting the waiver of out-of-state tuition if an official request is made by the president or chancellor of a public institution of higher education and if the request is determined by the Board to be fiscally responsible and in accordance with the educational mission of the requesting institution. Effective July 1, 2013.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | adding Section 9.34 as follows:

6 | (110 ILCS 205/9.34 new) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 9.34. Waiver of out-of-state tuition policies; | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | approval. The Board may, in its discretion, consider and grant | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | requests to approve institution-specific policies permitting | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | the waiver of out-of-state tuition if an official request is | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | made by the president or chancellor of a public institution of | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
