Bill Title: Amends the Employment of Teachers Article of the School Code. Provides that for any teacher who is elected by the association's membership to represent the association for federal advocacy work, for up to 10 days in any school year spent by a teacher during the term, time spent in attendance at a meeting or gathering for federal advocacy work shall be considered time expended in the service of the district and no deduction of wages shall be made for such attendance.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
524-3.1 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/24-3.1 new)
7 Sec. 24-3.1. Attendance for federal advocacy work. For any
8teacher who is a member of a statewide association
9representing teachers, who is elected by the association's
10membership to represent the association for federal advocacy
11work, for up to 10 days in any school year spent by a teacher
12during the term, time spent in attendance at a meeting or
13gathering for federal advocacy work shall be considered time
14expended in the service of the district and no deduction of
15wages shall be made for such attendance.
