Bill Title: Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that May 19 of each year is designated as "First Responder Mental Health Awareness Day", to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor firefighters, police officers, and other first responders who have lost their lives due to and suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other mental health issues.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by | ||||||
5 | adding Section 148 as follows:

7 | Sec. 148. First Responder Mental Health Awareness Day. The | ||||||
8 | third Friday in May of each year is designated as First | ||||||
9 | Responder Mental Health Awareness Day, to be observed | ||||||
10 | throughout the State as a day to honor firefighters, police | ||||||
11 | officers, and other first responders who have lost their lives | ||||||
12 | due to and suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, | ||||||
13 | depression, and other mental health issues.
