SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
5 ILCS 490/13 new

Amends the State Designations Act. Designates the month of May as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Section 13 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 490/13 new)
7 Sec. 13. Monarch Month. The month of May of each year is
8designated as Monarch Month to be observed throughout the State
9as a month to honor the Monarch Butterfly, which is the
10official State insect of the State of Illinois.
11 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.
