Bill Title: Creates the Hospital Infant Feeding Act. Provides that every hospital that provides birthing services must adopt an infant feeding policy that promotes breastfeeding. Requires a hospital to routinely communicate the infant feeding policy to staff in the hospital's obstetric and neonatal areas; authorizes posting of the policy on the hospital's Internet or Intranet web site or on the Internet or Intranet web site of the health system of which the hospital is a part. Requires that the policy apply to all mother-infant couplets in the hospital's obstetric and neonatal areas. Effective January 1, 2013.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4968
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4968 as follows:
3on page 1, immediately below line 14, by inserting the
4following:
5 "Infant nutrition resource" means breastfeeding education
6and infant formula safety and preparation."; and
7on page 1, line 20, by changing "may" to "shall"; and
8on page 1, line 21, after "for", by inserting "medically
9necessary"; and
10on page 2, line 7, by replacing "is" with "and infant nutrition
11resources are".
