Bill Title: Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that the Illinois Commerce Commission must require that a public utility that serves a contract with a third party for a property must notify the owner of record and the tenant of the property if excess water usage is detected by the public utility. Effective immediately.

1 | AN ACT concerning utilities.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 8-307 as follows:

7 | Sec. 8-307. Excess water usage; landlord notification. The | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | Commission must require that a public utility that serves a | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | contract with a third party for a property must notify the | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | owner of record and the tenant of the property if excess water | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | usage is detected by the public utility.
