Repeals provisions that permit the children of employees of a State university who have been employed by any one or by more than one State university for an aggregate period of at least 7 years to receive a 50% tuition waiver. 11 | Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is | ||||||
12 | applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual | ||||||
13 | household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under | ||||||

by any one or by more than one Illinois | ||||||
15 | college or university for an aggregate
period of at least 7

17 | child of an
employee of an Illinois college or university (i) | ||||||
18 | must
be under the age of 25 at the
commencement of the academic | ||||||
19 | year during which the partial tuition waiver

20 | effective, and (ii) must qualify for admission to the | ||||||
21 | University of
Illinois
under the same admissions requirements, | ||||||
22 | standards and policies which the
University of Illinois applies | ||||||

25 | (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection

12 | "Veteran" means an Illinois resident who has served as a | ||||||
13 | member of the United States Armed Forces on active duty or | ||||||
14 | State active duty, a member of the Illinois National Guard, or | ||||||

16 | received an honorable discharge. | ||||||
17 | (b) Each year the Board of Northern Illinois
University | ||||||
18 | shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education at | ||||||

campus under its governance to the children of employees of

20 | an Illinois college or university who have been employed
by any | ||||||
21 | one or by more than one Illinois college or university for an | ||||||
22 | aggregate period of at least 7
years. To be eligible to receive | ||||||
23 | a partial tuition waiver, the child of an
employee of an | ||||||
24 | Illinois college or university (i) must
be under the age of 25 | ||||||
25 | at the
commencement of the academic year during which the | ||||||
26 | partial tuition waiver
is to be effective, and (ii) must |

1 | qualify for admission to Northern
Illinois University
under the | ||||||
2 | same admissions requirements, standards and policies which | ||||||
3 | Northern
Illinois University applies to applicants for | ||||||
4 | admission generally to
its respective
undergraduate colleges | ||||||

6 | (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of subsection
| ||||||
7 | (b), an
eligible applicant who has continued to maintain | ||||||
8 | satisfactory academic
progress toward graduation may have his | ||||||
9 | or her partial tuition waiver
renewed until the time as he or | ||||||
10 | she has expended 4 years of undergraduate
partial tuition | ||||||
11 | waiver benefits under this Section.

12 | (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to any
| ||||||
13 | eligible
applicant in accordance with the provisions of this | ||||||
14 | Section shall be
charged against any tuition waiver limitation | ||||||
15 | established by the Illinois
Board of Higher Education.

16 | (e) The Board shall prescribe rules and regulations as
are | ||||||
17 | necessary to implement and administer the provisions of this | ||||||
18 | Section.

24 | (a) As used in this Section : , |

1 | "Employee" means an employee of an Illinois college or | ||||||

3 | Section is granted, (ii) who is the parent of a veteran who is | ||||||
4 | applying for a waiver under this Section, or (iii) whose annual | ||||||
5 | household income is $50,000 or less at the time a waiver under | ||||||
6 | this Section is granted. | ||||||
7 | "Illinois college or university" means any
of the | ||||||
8 | following: the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois | ||||||
9 | University,
Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois | ||||||
10 | University, Governors State
University, Illinois State | ||||||
11 | University, Northeastern Illinois University,
Northern | ||||||
12 | Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
