| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Tens of millions of Americans are affected by | ||||||
3 | bladder diseases and conditions, including urinary | ||||||
4 | incontinence, overactive bladder, underactive bladder, | ||||||
5 | interstitial cystitis, nocturia, urinary tract infections, | ||||||
6 | bladder cancer, urotrauma, and neurogenic bladder; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Bladder diseases and conditions have significant | ||||||
8 | impact on health and quality of life, contributing to | ||||||
9 | depression, social isolation, falls, sexual dysfunction, loss | ||||||
10 | of self-esteem, hospitalizations, nursing home admissions, and | ||||||
11 | even death; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Medical and behavioral research to better | ||||||
13 | understand and maintain bladder health and treat bladder | ||||||
14 | diseases is critically needed, yet poorly recognized; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Bladder problems are highly stigmatized; open | ||||||
16 | dialogue generated by the designation of a Bladder Health Month | ||||||
17 | can reduce stigma and empower providers and patients to have | ||||||
18 | much-needed conversations about bladder health; therefore, be | ||||||
19 | it
