HOUSE RESOLUTION
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Lieutenant Colonel Maria
4Elizabeth Sanchez on her career, her achievements, and her
5contribution to the State; and
6    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez is the commander of the 6th Battalion
7and Chicago Military Entrance Processing Station and supports
8the USMEPCOM mission of evaluating applicants by applying
9Department of Defense standards in processing and determining
10eligibility for military service; and
11    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez enlisted in the United States Army at
12Phoenix MEPS and received her commission through Officer
13Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia; and
14    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez has served as photo and layout
15specialist with the 4th Psychological Operations Group
16(Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, squad leader with
17the 70th Engineer Company at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, platoon
18sergeant with the 100th Engineer Company at Fort Bragg, and
19instructor with the Defense Mapping School at Fort Belvoir,
20Virginia; and
21    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez's commissioned assignments include

1platoon leader, C Battery, 5th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense
2Artillery Regiment (Patriot), Fort Bliss, Texas and deployed
3to the United Arab Emirates; battalion human resources
4officer, 2nd Battalion (Assault), 25th Aviation Regiment,
5Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii and deployed to Afghanistan;
6personnel management officer, United States Army Pacific, Fort
7Shafter; human resources officer, 25th Division Artillery,
8Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; commander, San Juan MEPS, San
9Juan, Puerto Rico; liaison, U.S. Military Entrance Processing
10Command and Accessions Policy, Office of the Secretary of
11Defense, Washington, D.C.; and military secretariat, Joint
12Staff J6, Washington, D.C.; and
13    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez's military education includes
14Advanced Individual Training as a photo and layout specialist,
15Senior Tactics Instructor Course, Officer Candidate School,
16Basic Officer Leader Course, Air Defense Officer Basic Course,
17Adjutant General Officer Advanced Course, Human Resources
18Plans and Operations Course, Brigade Human Resources
19Operations Course, and Command and General Staff College; and
20    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez earned an Associate of Arts in
21General Studies from Fayetteville Technical Community College
22in North Carolina, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor
23in Latin American Studies from George Mason University in
24Fairfax, Virginia, and a Master of Arts in Human Resource

1Management from Webster University; and
2    WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez's military awards and decorations
3include the Bronze Star Medal, three Defense Meritorious
4Service Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint
5Service Commendation Medal, five Army Commendation Medals,
6nine Army Achievement Medals, and various service, unit, and
7personal medals and ribbons; therefore, be it
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we recognize Lieutenant Colonel Maria Elizabeth Sanchez on her
11career, her achievements, and the exceptional work that she
12has done for both Illinois and Chicago MPS; and be it further
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to LTC Sanchez as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
