HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate John A. Ambrose, former
Chief Operating Officer of Rentech Nitrogen GP, LLC and former
President of Rentech Nitrogen, LLC on the occasion of his
retirement on January 9, 2015; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose served in those leadership positions
from 2007 until his retirement at Rentech Nitrogen's nitrogen
fertilizer facility near East Dubuque; and
WHEREAS, The Rentech Nitrogen East Dubuque plant is the
only nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing facility in Illinois
and supplies corn growers in the northern half of the State;
and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose led the facility to expand production
of several products including a $100,000,000 ammonia
expansion, that created numerous construction jobs; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose led the Rentech Nitrogen East Dubuque
facility to spend between $5 to $10 million in maintenance
capital projects annually to renew the 49-year-old facility to
assure jobs, local commerce, a tax base, and a supply of
Illinois-made nitrogen fertilizer to agricultural dealers and

coops; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose led the facility to install a unit to
produce and supply DEF (Diesel Emission Fluid) for the control
of pollutants from mobile diesel engines; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose led Rentech Nitrogen to install
numerous environmental stewardship projects that eliminated
the use of an ozone depleting refrigerant, improved the capture
of oil in waste water, reduced the emission of a primary
pollutant, and on a voluntary basis reduced by over 90% the
emission of a greenhouse gas; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose participated in the Chemical
Industry Council of Illinois and specifically as Chairman of
the executive Committee in 2014; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose led Rentech Nitrogen to support the
local economic development effort (Tri-County Economic
Development Alliance-TCEDA) and served on its Executive
committee and as Vice-Chairman; and
WHEREAS, John Ambrose led Rentech Nitrogen to join and
participate in other Northwest Illinois organizations and
re-focused donations to local charities, local fire and police
organizations, and local agricultural organizations;

therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
thank former Rentech Nitrogen Chief Operating Officer John A.
Ambrose for his years of service to the people of Illinois, to
Northwest Illinois, and to Jo Daviess County, and we
congratulate him on his retirement, and wish him all the best
in his future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to John Ambrose as an expression of our
congratulations and appreciation for a job well done.
