HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Tech Day 2009 is celebrating its 18th anniversary
3 at the State Capitol in Springfield on April 30, 2009; and
4 WHEREAS, Students and teachers from nearly 100 schools
5 throughout the State will demonstrate to State legislators and
6 other visitors the vast number of ways that students are using
7 technology to learn; and
8 WHEREAS, Tech Day 2009 is a statewide initiative
9 representing every legislative district in Illinois, and
10 supported by a broad range of education and business
11 organizations to increase awareness of the importance of
12 classroom technology; and
13 WHEREAS, The need continues to provide professional
14 development that empowers Illinois teachers to become 21st
15 century leaders proficient in managing learning which prepares
16 students for a 21st century workforce; and
17 WHEREAS, Too many of our classrooms lack the infrastructure
18 and the educational technology required to support the learning
19 environments needed for success in a world undergoing
20 exponential change; and

1 WHEREAS, The State of Illinois, now more than ever, depends
2 on our schools to prepare the next generation to compete in a
3 globally competitive economy; and
4 WHEREAS, Administrators, teachers, and students encourage
5 the State of Illinois to provide sufficient technology funding
6 to accomplish the goals and objectives of the State's
7 educational technology plan; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10 April 30, 2009 be proclaimed Tech Day 2009 Day in the State of
11 Illinois.
