| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Judy Scott of Sesser for | ||||||
| 4 | her recent act of heroism that saved the lives of many students | ||||||
| 5 | and chaperones; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Judy Scott has been a school bus driver for | ||||||
| 7 | Sesser-Valier schools for 43 years and is affectionately known | ||||||
| 8 | as "Ms. Judy"; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Judy Scott was transporting students on the return | ||||||
| 10 | to Sesser from a math competition in Champaign when the bus she | ||||||
| 11 | was driving hit a bump on Interstate 57 and lost all electric, | ||||||
| 12 | steering, and brake control; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Judy Scott remained calm in the face of danger and | ||||||
| 14 | skillfully guided the school bus with the students and | ||||||
| 15 | chaperones inside to the side of the road safely; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The Illinois State Police described Judy Scott's | ||||||
| 17 | actions as going "above and beyond" and praised her training | ||||||
| 18 | and experience; they regarded this heroic act as "nothing short | ||||||
| 19 | of a miracle"; therefore, be it

| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

| 1 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 2 | we congratulate Judy Scott for her recent act of heroism that | ||||||
| 3 | saved the lives of many students and chaperones and wish her | ||||||
| 4 | many more years of safe driving and service to the school | ||||||
| 5 | children of Southern Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Judy Scott as a symbol of our appreciation, | ||||||
| 8 | respect, and esteem.
