| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate the Breese Fire Department on the occasion of its | ||||||
| 4 | 125th anniversary and recognize its tradition of bravery and | ||||||
| 5 | dedication; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Breese Fire Department was founded in January | ||||||
| 7 | of 1892, twenty-one years after the founding of the town of | ||||||
| 8 | Breese; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Breese Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, | ||||||
| 10 | started with seventeen men who, before the department received | ||||||
| 11 | horses, pulled the fire pump to emergencies; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The Breese Fire Department's pump was purchased, | ||||||
| 13 | and the fire house was completed in October of 1892, a little | ||||||
| 14 | more than nine months after the founding of the department; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The department purchased its first motorized fire | ||||||
| 16 | truck in 1918, which was funded by firemen picnics, masked | ||||||
| 17 | balls, dances, and taxes from the Breese Township; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Today, the Breese Fire Department averages one | ||||||
| 19 | hundred and twenty emergency calls a year, has six emergency | ||||||
| 20 | vehicles, and thirty-five volunteer firefighters; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The Breese Fire Department exemplifies the best | ||||||
| 2 | qualities of rural Illinois and the community spirit that | ||||||
| 3 | defines the small towns and villages of this great State; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The department continues to live up to its motto, | ||||||
| 5 | "Semper Paratus" or "Always Ready"; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 8 | congratulate the Breese Fire Department on its 125th | ||||||
| 9 | anniversary, and that we wish it 125 more years of continued | ||||||
| 10 | operation and faithful service to its community; and be it | ||||||
| 11 | further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent | ||||||
| 13 | to the Breese Fire Department and Chief Robert Wuest.
