2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Johnnie Lane on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of her retirement after 41 years of service to her | ||||||
5 | community; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Johnnie Lane and her husband, Aubrey Lane Jr., | ||||||
7 | settled their family in the village of Phoenix in early 1960; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Johnnie Lane began her service to Phoenix when she | ||||||
10 | was appointed Acting Clerk from 1971 to 1973; she then began | ||||||
11 | working for School District 151; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, In 1981, Johnnie Lane was elected Phoenix Village | ||||||
13 | Clerk, where she has remained for 38 consecutive year until her | ||||||
14 | decision to retire; her tenure has spanned over 30 trustees
and | ||||||
15 | four mayors; over her 41 years of service to the village, she | ||||||
16 | has been a part of the new construction of numerous public | ||||||
17 | buildings, including the William Hawkins Multi-Purpose Center, | ||||||
18 | the fire station, the police station, the village hall, the | ||||||
19 | public works building, the Barack Obama Learning Center, and | ||||||
20 | the Kirklin Storage Shed; she has also witnessed the building | ||||||
21 | and remodeling of the Gibson's Citgo gas station, the Pershing | ||||||
22 | Broome Park and Pavilion, the strip mall, the St. Andrew Manor |

1 | Senior Living Center, the expansion of Coolidge Middle School, | ||||||
2 | and multiple community parks and playgrounds, including her | ||||||
3 | favorite, the Johnnie M. Lane Park & Playground; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Johnnie Lane has served Phoenix in many other | ||||||
5 | areas, including with the Ladies Auxiliary, I-Watch, the Golden | ||||||
6 | Agers Club of Phoenix, Club 22, and the Phoenix Fest Committee | ||||||
7 | for its entire 25-year run; she has worked with the South | ||||||
8 | Suburban United Way, the Southwest Municipal Clerks | ||||||
9 | Association, Rainbow Push, the NAACP, and the original Black | ||||||
10 | Elected Officials; and

11 | WHEREAS, Among the recognitions and awards that Johnnie | ||||||
12 | Lane has received is the 2019 Women of Honor Award for her | ||||||
13 | dedication and commitment to her community; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Johnnie Lane is a member of Daniel Chapel A.M.E. | ||||||
15 | Zion Church in Phoenix, where she has served as a Class Leader, | ||||||
16 | Stewardess, and Usher Board member; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Johnnie Lane is a wife, mother, grandmother of 10, | ||||||
18 | and great-grandmother of five; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
20 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
21 | we congratulate Johnnie Lane on her retirement after 41 years |

2 | her future endeavors; and be it further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
