HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bernard Ughetti,
World War II Navy Seabee Veteran, on being honored during the
8th Annual Mayfair Remembrance Day: Salute to American Heroes;
and
WHEREAS, Bernard Ughetti was inducted into the United
States Navy in 1943; after hearing of his trade experience, the
Navy suggested he join the Construction Battalion, or
"Seabees"; after his training he departed for England, where he
oversaw construction projects during the preparations for the
invasion of Europe; and
WHEREAS, He and his unit landed at Utah Beach during the
Normandy Invasion and were a major part of the European
invasion; he later participated in the invasion of Okinawa in
the Pacific Theater; and
WHEREAS, After leaving the service in 1946 he married his
sweetheart, Jean, and they had a home built in Mayfair in 1950;
and
WHEREAS, Together with his wife, they had three children
and four grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
congratulate Bernard Ughetti on this honor and thank him for
his years of service to his country; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Bernard Ughetti as a symbol of our respect and
esteem.
