2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to recognize National Apprenticeship Week | ||||||
4 | on the occasion of its 10th anniversary; and

5 | WHEREAS, National Apprenticeship Week raises awareness of | ||||||
6 | the vital role Registered Apprenticeship programs play as a | ||||||
7 | proven and industry-driven training model, as a key strategy | ||||||
8 | to improving job quality, and in creating access to | ||||||
9 | well-paying, family-sustaining careers for all, starting with | ||||||
10 | youth and young adults; and

11 | WHEREAS, In the United States, there is an urgent need to | ||||||
12 | prepare and maintain an inclusive, diverse, and highly skilled | ||||||
13 | workforce to address some of our nation's pressing workforce | ||||||
14 | challenges, such as rebuilding our country's infrastructure, | ||||||
15 | addressing critical supply chain demands, supporting a clean | ||||||
16 | energy workforce, modernizing our cybersecurity response, and | ||||||
17 | responding to care economy issues; and

18 | WHEREAS, Registered Apprenticeship programs enable | ||||||
19 | employers to develop and train their future workforce while | ||||||
20 | offering career seekers affordable pathways to good, quality | ||||||
21 | jobs and high-paying careers; and

1 | WHEREAS, Registered Apprenticeship programs expand | ||||||
2 | opportunities in our workforce that are inclusive of | ||||||
3 | individuals who have been historically underserved, | ||||||
4 | marginalized, and adversely affected by persistent poverty and | ||||||
5 | inequality, thus providing a path for all qualified | ||||||
6 | individuals, including women, youth, people of color, rural | ||||||
7 | and tribal communities, justice-involved individuals, and | ||||||
8 | individuals with disabilities, to become apprentices and | ||||||
9 | contributors to America's industries; and

10 | WHEREAS, Educators, school counselors, and educational | ||||||
11 | institutions play a pivotal role in not only bringing | ||||||
12 | awareness of Registered Apprenticeship opportunities to | ||||||
13 | students and parents but also in serving as training | ||||||
14 | providers, sponsors, and intermediaries; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
16 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
17 | we recognize National Apprenticeship Week, held from November | ||||||
18 | 17 to November 23, 2024, as it celebrates its 10th | ||||||
19 | anniversary; and be it further
