HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize National Apprenticeship Week
4on the occasion of its 10th anniversary; and
5 WHEREAS, National Apprenticeship Week raises awareness of
6the vital role Registered Apprenticeship programs play as a
7proven and industry-driven training model, as a key strategy
8to improving job quality, and in creating access to
9well-paying, family-sustaining careers for all, starting with
10youth and young adults; and
11 WHEREAS, In the United States, there is an urgent need to
12prepare and maintain an inclusive, diverse, and highly skilled
13workforce to address some of our nation's pressing workforce
14challenges, such as rebuilding our country's infrastructure,
15addressing critical supply chain demands, supporting a clean
16energy workforce, modernizing our cybersecurity response, and
17responding to care economy issues; and
18 WHEREAS, Registered Apprenticeship programs enable
19employers to develop and train their future workforce while
20offering career seekers affordable pathways to good, quality
21jobs and high-paying careers; and

1 WHEREAS, Registered Apprenticeship programs expand
2opportunities in our workforce that are inclusive of
3individuals who have been historically underserved,
4marginalized, and adversely affected by persistent poverty and
5inequality, thus providing a path for all qualified
6individuals, including women, youth, people of color, rural
7and tribal communities, justice-involved individuals, and
8individuals with disabilities, to become apprentices and
9contributors to America's industries; and
10 WHEREAS, Educators, school counselors, and educational
11institutions play a pivotal role in not only bringing
12awareness of Registered Apprenticeship opportunities to
13students and parents but also in serving as training
14providers, sponsors, and intermediaries; therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we recognize National Apprenticeship Week, held from November
1817 to November 23, 2024, as it celebrates its 10th
19anniversary; and be it further
