2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Commander Maureen Biggane | ||||||
4 | on the occasion of her retirement from the Chicago Police | ||||||
5 | Department; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane has lived in Chicago her entire | ||||||
7 | life and is the daughter of a firefighter and a hairstylist; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane's brother and sister also | ||||||
10 | became sworn officers of the Chicago Police Department; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane attended Maria High School and | ||||||
12 | earned her undergraduate degree from the University of | ||||||
13 | Illinois in Urbana-Champaign; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane earned her master's degree in | ||||||
15 | Business Administration from Saint Xavier University and | ||||||
16 | graduated summa cum laude from John Marshall Law School; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane began her career with the | ||||||
18 | Chicago Police Department in 1992; she was first assigned to | ||||||
19 | the 9th District working a beat car; and

1 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane was promoted to sergeant in | ||||||
2 | 1999, and she served in that role for nearly nine years in the | ||||||
3 | 21st District, the Office of the Superintendent, the Organized | ||||||
4 | Crime — Vice Control Section, and the Area One Detective | ||||||
5 | Division; and

6 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane, then-Sergeant Biggane, was | ||||||
7 | promoted to lieutenant and assigned as field lieutenant in the | ||||||
8 | 12th District in 2008; over the course of the following 11 | ||||||
9 | years, she served as commanding officer of the Juvenile | ||||||
10 | Intervention and Support Center, News Affairs, and the | ||||||
11 | Organized Crime – Confidential Matters & Criminal Analysis | ||||||
12 | Unit and in the Office of the First Deputy Superintendent; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, In November 2018, Commander Biggane was promoted | ||||||
14 | to commander of the 16th District on Chicago's northwest side; | ||||||
15 | and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane and her husband, Sergeant | ||||||
17 | Johnny Pasiewicz, have been married for seven years and have | ||||||
18 | two children, Maddie and Lucas; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane is passionate about many | ||||||
20 | causes, including animal rights and rescue; she volunteers in | ||||||
21 | her community with veterans and the elderly and mentors women | ||||||
22 | in the Chicago Police Department; and

1 | WHEREAS, Commander Biggane has offered a career of service | ||||||
2 | to her home, Chicago, and has served as an excellent police | ||||||
3 | leader and commander in the 16th District; therefore, be it
| ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
5 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
6 | we congratulate Commander Maureen Biggane on her retirement | ||||||
7 | and thank her for her years of service and dedication to the | ||||||
8 | Chicago Police Department and the City of Chicago; and be it | ||||||
9 | further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to Commander Biggane as an expression of our esteem | ||||||
12 | and gratitude.
