| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, On November 6, 2015, at the State playoff football | ||||||
| 3 | game at Deer Creek Mackinaw High School, Tazewell County | ||||||
| 4 | Sheriff's Deputy Randy Davis was in the right place at the | ||||||
| 5 | right time; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Matthew Breitbarth of Metamora was choking and | ||||||
| 7 | Deputy Davis saved his life by performing the Heimlich maneuver | ||||||
| 8 | to dislodge a piece of pork chop sandwich that was choking | ||||||
| 9 | Breitbarth and not allowing him to speak; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, It was the first time Deputy Randy Davis had done | ||||||
| 11 | the Heimlich maneuver outside of training; he was recertified | ||||||
| 12 | in the procedure and cardio pulmonary resuscitation just a few | ||||||
| 13 | days before the November 6 game; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Deputy Randy Davis was honored for his actions the | ||||||
| 15 | following week before another playoff football game at | ||||||
| 16 | Dee-Mack; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Deputy Randy Davis has been a Deputy with the | ||||||
| 18 | Tazewell County Sheriff's Department for 30 years, all on | ||||||
| 19 | patrol duty; he has been a motorcycle officer for 8 years and | ||||||
| 20 | was one of the original 2 in the position; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Deputy Randy Davis was named as the 2000 Deputy of | ||||||
| 2 | the Year; in 2012, he received a commendation from the Alliance | ||||||
| 3 | Against Intoxicated Motorists; in 2014, he received a letter of | ||||||
| 4 | appreciation from the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
| 5 | for reaching the level of 7,000 speeding tickets issued; he has | ||||||
| 6 | also received numerous commendations over the years for his | ||||||
| 7 | quality and quantity of arrests he has made; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Deputy Davis has been a most aggressive pursuer of | ||||||
| 9 | major traffic law violators over the years; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 11 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 12 | honor and thank Deputy Randy Davis for his heroic action and | ||||||
| 13 | wish him the best in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to Deputy Randy Davis as a symbol of our great | ||||||
| 16 | respect and esteem.
