HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Knights of Columbus
Council #12173 on the occasion of its 20th anniversary on March
26, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Columbus, comprised of male members
of the Roman Catholic faith, was first founded in 1882 on the
core principal of helping the most-needy in the community;
currently, there are 15,000 councils world-wide; and
WHEREAS, St. Michael the Archangel Knights of Columbus
Chicago Police Council #12173 was founded on March 26, 1998 and
named after the acknowledged Patron Saint of Police Officers,
Soldiers, and Paratroopers; it is the first and only Knights of
Columbus council solely comprised of, and dedicated to, active
and retired members of law enforcement, the judiciary, and the
military; and
WHEREAS, Council #12173 has members that represent areas
including Chicago, Cook County, and over 40 suburbs; it has
additional members in Arizona, Florida, Nevada, Texas, and
Virginia; therefore, be it

HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
congratulate Knights of Columbus Council #12173 on its 20th
anniversary, and we wish it many more successful years; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Knights of Columbus Council #12173 as a symbol of
our respect and esteem.
