1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5Section 3-696 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/3-696 new)
7 Sec. 3-696. Equestrian license plates.
8 (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and
9applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may
10issue special registration plates designated as equestrian
11license plates. The special plates issued under this Section
12shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first
13division or motor vehicles of the second division weighing not
14more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this Section shall
15expire according to the multi-year procedure established by
16Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
17 (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be
18wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. The Secretary
19may allow the plates to be issued as vanity plates or
20personalized plates under Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The
21Secretary shall prescribe stickers or decals as provided under
22Section 3-412 of this Code.
23 (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a

1$15 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate
2registration fee. The $15 fee shall be deposited into the
3Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used by
feedback
