Bill Title: Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
5 ILCS 490/9 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that the month of November of each year is designated as Native American Heritage Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to recognize the contributions and influence of Native Americans on American history, achievement, culture, and innovation. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning commemorative dates.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Section 9 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 490/9 new)
7 Sec. 9. Native American Heritage Month. The month of
8November of each year is designated as Native American
9Heritage Month to be observed throughout the State as a month
10to recognize the contributions and influence of Native
11Americans on American history, achievement, culture, and
12innovation.
13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14becoming law.
