Bill Title: Amends the State Police Act and the Personnel Code. Provides that the State Police Merit Board may hire employees as may be necessary and appropriate to carry out its duties and responsibilities. Provides that employees of the Merit Board shall not be subject to the Personnel Code. Provides that the Board shall fix the salaries of its employees. Provides that the Board shall adopt rules establishing a general salary schedule according to a classification of employees, but subject to merit increases, which shall apply to all employees. Provides that the Board may suspend or dismiss employees as necessary. Provides that the Board shall adopt rules establishing grounds for dismissal of employees.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by adding | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 7.3 as follows:

7 | Sec. 7.3. Employees. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | (a) The Board may hire employees as may be necessary and | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | appropriate to carry out its duties and responsibilities. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | Employees of the Merit Board shall not be subject to the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | Personnel Code. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | (b) The Board shall fix the salaries of its employees. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | (c) The Board shall adopt rules establishing a general | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

17 | Legislative Printing Unit.

Guard, paid from federal funds or positions
