Bill Title: Amends the River Conservancy Districts Act. Provides that a member of a board may not receive more than $6,000 per annum (instead of $3,000 per annum). Provides that at its discretion, a board may adjust the compensation amounts for inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for all items published by the United States Department of Labor and rounded to the nearest $100. Provides that board members shall also be reimbursed for ordinary and necessary expenses incurred in performing the member's duties under the Act. Amends the Fox Waterway Agency Act. Provides that each director on the board of directors of the Fox Waterway Agency may receive up to $6,000 per year (instead of $3,000) and that the chairman of the board may receive up to $10,000 per year (instead of $5,000). Provides that at the board of directors of the Fox Waterway Agency's discretion, the board may adjust the compensation amounts for inflation as determined by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for all items published by the United States Department of Labor and rounded to the nearest $100.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
70 ILCS 2105/6 from Ch. 42, par. 388

Amends the River Conservancy Districts Act. Provides that the board of a river conservancy district shall annually set the member compensation to be paid solely out of the funds of the district (rather than a member of the board may not receive more than $3,000 per annum).

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The River Conservancy Districts Act is amended
5by changing Section 6 as follows:
6 (70 ILCS 2105/6) (from Ch. 42, par. 388)
7 Sec. 6. The board of trustees shall exercise all of the
8powers and control the affairs and property of the district.
9The board at their first meeting in May of each year shall
10elect one of their number as president, one of their number as
11vice-president and one of their number as secretary. The board
12may appoint an engineer who may be an individual,
13co-partnership or corporation, an attorney, an executive
14vice-president, a manager, a treasurer, and other engineers,
15attorneys, agents, clerks and assistants for the district who
16shall hold office during the pleasure of the board and who
17shall give such bond as the board may require. The board may
18prescribe the duties and fix the compensation of all the
19officers and employees of the district. Annually the board
20will set the member compensation to be paid solely out of the
21funds of the district. A member of the board may not receive
22more than $3,000 per annum. The board may pass all necessary
23ordinances, rules and regulations.
