1 | AN ACT concerning business.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business | ||||||
5 | Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2RRR as follows:

6 | (815 ILCS 505/2RRR new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 2RRR. Satellite broadcast service disclosure. | ||||||
8 | (a) In this Section, "broadcast service provider" means a | ||||||
9 | provider of video programming that delivers that programming to | ||||||
10 | a consumer by means of satellite transmission, master antenna | ||||||
11 | television, satellite master antenna television, direct | ||||||
12 | broadcast satellite, or satellite multipoint distribution | ||||||
13 | service. | ||||||
14 | (b) A broadcast service provider must require its equipment | ||||||
15 | installers to make the following disclosures, both orally and | ||||||
16 | in writing, to a customer before installing any equipment at a | ||||||
17 | customer's premises: | ||||||
18 | (1) the differences between a residential subscription | ||||||
19 | package and a commercial customer subscription package; | ||||||
20 | and | ||||||
21 | (2) the potential penalties for subscription piracy | ||||||
22 | involved when a commercial subscription user accepts a | ||||||
23 | residential subscription package. |

1 | The installer shall obtain a written acknowledgement | ||||||
2 | signed by the customer acknowledging that the customer has | ||||||
3 | received the disclosures required under this Section. | ||||||
4 | (c) A person who violates this Section commits an unlawful | ||||||
5 | practice within the meaning of this Act.
