Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that, upon knowledge of an incident of sexual assault committed on school grounds or at a school-sponsored activity or event by a student against a teacher, a teacher against a student, or a student against another student, a school district shall report the incident to the State Board of Education; defines "sexual assault". Provides that the State Board shall post on its Internet website for each school year the total number of reported incidents statewide and in each school district. Provides that the State Board shall also report the data annually to the General Assembly no later than September 1 of each year.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | 2-3.173, 10-20.67, and 34-18.60 as follows:

6 | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.173 new) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 2-3.173. Sexual assault data. The State Board of | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | Education shall post on its Internet website for each school | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | year the total number of incidents reported under Sections | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10 | 10-20.67 and 34-18.60 of this Code statewide and in each school | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11 | district. The State Board shall also report the data annually | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | to the General Assembly no later than September 1 of each year. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13 | The report to the General Assembly shall be filed with the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | Clerk of the House of Representatives and the Secretary of the | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | Senate in electronic form only, in the manner that the Clerk | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | and the Secretary shall direct.
