1 | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
| ||||||
3 | Assembly pays honor and respect to individuals who have given
| ||||||
4 | their lives in service to their communities; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, On October 26, 2021, Pontoon Beach Police Officer | ||||||
6 | Tyler N. Timmins approached a suspected stolen vehicle, and | ||||||
7 | the suspect began firing at the officer, who was then shot, | ||||||
8 | airlifted to a St. Louis hospital, and later succumbed to his | ||||||
9 | injuries; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Officer Timmins was born in Alton to Timothy and | ||||||
11 | Beverly (Zeisset) Timmins on December 18, 1984; he married | ||||||
12 | Linsey (Hornberger) Timmins on September 11, 2021; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Officer Timmins joined the Pontoon Beach Police | ||||||
14 | Department in April 2020; during his 14-year career, he also | ||||||
15 | served as a cadet for the City of Wood River Police Department, | ||||||
16 | a patrolman for the Village of Roxana Police Department, chief | ||||||
17 | in the Village of Worden, and a patrolman in the Village of | ||||||
18 | Hartford; and

19 | WHEREAS, Officer Timmins was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | maternal grandfather, Marcell "Chuck" Zeisset, and his | ||||||
21 | paternal grandparents, Carl and Mae Timmins; and

1 | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Officer Timmins was | ||||||
2 | survived by his wife, Linsey; his father, Timothy Timmins; his | ||||||
3 | daughter, Chloe Rice; his maternal grandmother, Eva Faye | ||||||
4 | Zeisset; his stepmother, Laura (Evans) Timmins; his brother, | ||||||
5 | Jake (Sabrina) Timmins; his nieces, Lennon and Everly Timmins; | ||||||
6 | numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; thousands of "Brothers | ||||||
7 | and Sisters in Blue"; and his beloved fur babies, Scooter and | ||||||
8 | Wrigley; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Officer Timmins was a loving father, husband, | ||||||
10 | brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend; he was a loving, | ||||||
11 | loyal, and kind man who never met a stranger and had a | ||||||
12 | servant's heart of gold; therefore, be it
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF | ||||||
15 | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois | ||||||
16 | Route 111 in Pontoon Beach from Timberlake Drive to Pontoon | ||||||
17 | Road as the "Officer Tyler Timmins Memorial Highway"; and be | ||||||
18 | it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| ||||||
20 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| ||||||
21 | State and federal highway regulations, appropriate plaques or
| ||||||
22 | signs giving notice of the name "Officer Tyler Timmins |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | Memorial Highway"; and be it further
| ||||||
2 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
3 | presented to the family of Officer Timmins, the Mayor of | ||||||
4 | Pontoon Beach, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department of | ||||||
5 | Transportation.
