2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
United States Army Specialist Andrew Paul | ||||||
4 | Wade of Antioch, who passed away on March 9, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was born on February 27, 1989, in | ||||||
6 | Fort Hood, Texas; he was the son of Douglas and Elizabeth | ||||||
7 | (Hagedorn) Wade; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade grew up in Antioch; he was a 2007 | ||||||
9 | graduate of Antioch Community High School, where he was a very | ||||||
10 | active soccer player; during high school, he started with the | ||||||
11 | varsity team for two years and was one of the few juniors to | ||||||
12 | aid the team in winning the regional and divisional | ||||||
13 | championships, including the North Suburban Conference Prairie | ||||||
14 | Division crown, and assisted on one of the two goals that led | ||||||
15 | to the team's victory; he was named for All-Sectional Honors by | ||||||
16 | the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association and the | ||||||
17 | Daily Herald All-Area Team in 2006; he also played with the | ||||||
18 | Chicago Kickers Soccer Club for six years; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade joined the United States Army in | ||||||
20 | September of 2008 as a 5th generation soldier; after completing | ||||||
21 | his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to | ||||||
22 | the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat |

1 | Team of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York; he | ||||||
2 | was deployed to serve in Afghanistan in support of Operation | ||||||
3 | Enduring Freedom in the spring of 2010; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade earned many decorations and | ||||||
5 | awards for his service, including the NATO Medal, the Army | ||||||
6 | Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the | ||||||
7 | Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service | ||||||
8 | Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, | ||||||
9 | and the Combat Infantryman Badge; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was a member of St. Peter Church; | ||||||
11 | and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was preceded in death by his | ||||||
13 | paternal grandparents, Paul and Deloriouse Wade; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade is survived by his parents, | ||||||
15 | Elizabeth and Douglas Wade; his sister, Alicia (Damon) | ||||||
16 | Litchfield; his brothers, Steven and Jonathan Wade; his | ||||||
17 | maternal grandparents, Mary Jane Hagedorn and Richard | ||||||
18 | Hagedorn; his nieces, Veronica Mauritz and Haley Braverman; and | ||||||
19 | his nephews, Derrion and Dominic Litchfield; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |

1 | his family and friends, the passing of Specialist Andrew Paul | ||||||
2 | Wade; and be it further
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the family of Spc. Andrew Wade as an expression of | ||||||
