2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of James H. "Jim" Brown of Milan, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 14, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jim Brown was born in Moline to Harry and Alice | ||||||
6 | (Hoogerwerf) Brown on June 16, 1930; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Reynolds High School in 1947; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard | ||||||
8 | the U.S.S. Snowden; he married Peggy Jo Irwin on March 1, 1952; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jim Brown retired as director of Emergency | ||||||
11 | Communications from the Illinois State Police in 1990 after 32 | ||||||
12 | years of service; he was also the owner of 2-Way Marine Radio | ||||||
13 | in Milan; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Jim Brown loved being on the water and cruising | ||||||
15 | aboard the Seahorse alongside his wife, and they enjoyed | ||||||
16 | cruising the Mississippi River from Rock Island to the Florida | ||||||
17 | Keys for 18 years; he was especially happy and proud when | ||||||
18 | spending time together with his children, grandchildren, and | ||||||
19 | great-grandchildren; and

20 | WHEREAS, Jim Brown was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
21 | his brother, Tom; and his grandson, Tom Brown; and

1 | WHEREAS, Jim Brown is survived by his wife of 69 years, | ||||||
2 | Peggy; his children, Michael (Teresa), Randy, Sheri (Jim | ||||||
3 | Brokaw), and Tamara (Dennis Kellner); his grandchildren, Dr. | ||||||
4 | Rhonda (Chad) Sowards, Matt Brown, Scott (Brooke) Zeitler, | ||||||
5 | Jamie (Phil) Ledbetter, Drew (Jessie) Zeitler, Tony (Sarah) | ||||||
6 | Brown, and Kendell (Lucas) DeWitt; and his | ||||||
7 | great-grandchildren, Trace, Ava, Claire, Thomas, Randi Jo, | ||||||
8 | Owen, Alice, Bennett, Maverick, Madelyn, Lane, Isabella, | ||||||
9 | Rhett, and Baby girl DeWitt; therefore, be it

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
12 | James H. "Jim" Brown and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
13 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
