2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Reverend Robert Baxter "Bobby" Evans Sr. | ||||||
4 | of Waukegan, who passed away at the age of 77; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Reverend Evans was born in Waukegan to Raymond J. | ||||||
6 | Sr. and Willie Lee Evans on March 3, 1940; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Waukegan High School in 1958 and married Trudy Joyce Barber on | ||||||
8 | March 4, 1961; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Reverend Evans had a successful career at United | ||||||
10 | Insurance Company of America for 25 years; he was also First | ||||||
11 | Ward Alderman for the City of Waukegan for 21 years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Reverend Evans was a member of the First | ||||||
13 | Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as clerk, | ||||||
14 | trustee, and member of the ministerial staff; he was | ||||||
15 | affectionately known as "Dad", "Uncle Bob", and "Mayor of the | ||||||
16 | Southside"; he will always be known as the voice of the African | ||||||
17 | American community in the City of Waukegan; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Reverend Evans was preceded in death by his wife | ||||||
19 | of 55 years, Trudy; his parents; his sisters, Vera Evans, | ||||||
20 | Dorothy Fields, Nora Jean Evans, and Patricia Edwards; and his | ||||||
21 | brothers, Dale Evans, Raymond J. Evans Jr., Dewayne Evans, and |

2 | WHEREAS, Reverend Evans is survived by his children, Rhonda | ||||||
3 | L. Evans, Robert B. (Joanne) Evans Jr., Rochelle M. Evans, and | ||||||

5 | Darnell Uzzle, William D. Longmire, William (LaShonda) Gipson | ||||||
6 | Sr., Shantelle M. Evans, ShaRhonda L. Evans, Shaneka N. Price, | ||||||
7 | Robert B. Evans III, Adam L. Evans Sr., Patrice A. Sims, David | ||||||

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Reverend Robert Baxter "Bobby" Evans Sr., and extend our | ||||||
18 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
19 | and loved him; and be it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Reverend Evans as an expression of | ||||||
22 | our deepest sympathy.
