SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Richard A. Wells of Moline, who passed
away on February 27, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wells was born to Arthur and Lola
(Reagan) Wells in Moline on May 30, 1928; he served as a
sergeant in the U.S. Marines from 1950 to 1952; he married
Joyce D. DeCausmaker at Trinity Episcopal Church in Rock
Island on May 9, 1953, and she preceded him in death on
December 10, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wells worked as a letter carrier with the
U.S. Postal Service for over 37 years; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wells enjoyed fishing with his buddies,
Big Jim, Barry, and Mike, and his son-in-law, David; he also
enjoyed golfing; he cherished spending time with his family;
he flew an American flag at his house every morning and kept
his yard in immaculate shape; and
WHEREAS, Richard Wells was preceded in death by his wife
of 61 years, Joyce; his parents; and his sister, Shirley
Peterson; and

WHEREAS, Richard Wells is survived by his children, Pam
(David) Ross and K. Arthur Wells; his grandchildren, Michael
(Kayla) Ross, Kyle (fiancé Leah) Ross, Ingrid (fiancé Matt)
Wells, and Dr. Markus Wells; and his great-grandchild, Ilka
Marie Ross; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Richard A. Wells and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Richard Wells as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
