| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Susan M. Beecher-Curtiss, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on May 8, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was born to Ralph and | ||||||
6 | Margaret (Proctor) Beecher in Bloomington on March 21, 1950; | ||||||
7 | she was raised in rural Anchor; after a move to Missouri with | ||||||
8 | her family, she graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High | ||||||
9 | School; she married Frank Curtiss on August 11, 1973, and they | ||||||
10 | raised their two daughters in Rowe; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss worked at the Pontiac | ||||||
12 | branch of The American Lung Association for many years; she | ||||||
13 | later worked as the secretary for Pontiac Township; she served | ||||||
14 | as the acting supervisor for Esmen Township; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss served in many positions as | ||||||
16 | a board member for Township Officials of Illinois and Township | ||||||
17 | Supervisors of Illinois; her knowledge of township government | ||||||
18 | was vast, and she had an ongoing dedication to teaching | ||||||
19 | others; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was a member of St. Paul | ||||||
21 | Lutheran Church of Pontiac and carried her faith with her |

1 | always; she was a 37 year breast cancer survivor and often | ||||||
2 | accompanied family and friends to their treatments, as she | ||||||
3 | knew the toll of therapy; she was an active member of the | ||||||
4 | Pontiac Rotary Club and often spoke of her excitement for the | ||||||
5 | annual Christmas party benefiting the children of the | ||||||
6 | community; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was a master crocheter; she | ||||||
8 | enjoyed playing cards every chance she had with her friends | ||||||
9 | and watching her favorite sports teams, the Chicago | ||||||
10 | Blackhawks, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Chicago Bears; | ||||||
11 | her favorite pastimes were simply visiting with friends and | ||||||
12 | spending time with her family; she was most proud of being a | ||||||
13 | mom and grandma and was lovingly called "Mommy Duck" by her | ||||||
14 | husband; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtiss was preceded in death by | ||||||
16 | her parents; her younger sister and best friend, Janice Long; | ||||||
17 | her paternal grandparents; and her maternal grandparents; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Susan Beecher-Curtis is survived by her husband; | ||||||
19 | her daughters, Tami (Greg) Putnam and Jennifer Curtiss (Noah | ||||||
20 | Kilmer); her grandsons, Ethan Putnam, Owen Putnam, and Aaron | ||||||
21 | Putnam; her granddogs, Mitzi, Darby, and Ollie; her brothers, | ||||||
22 | Bryan (Karen) Beecher and Todd (Sandra) Beecher; her nieces | ||||||
23 | and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; her several |

| |||||||
1 | cousins; and her countless friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
4 | Susan M. Beecher-Curtiss and extend our sincere
condolences to | ||||||
5 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | ||||||
6 | further
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Susan Beecher-Curtiss as an | ||||||
9 | expression of
our deepest sympathy.
