Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that one of the criteria for the professional development activities of an individual holding a Professional Educator License shall be activities of a type that engages participants over a sustained period of time allowing for analysis, discovery, and application as they relate to mental health. Provides that each school district may include in its curriculum a unit of instruction on mental health that includes content on the causes, effects, and impact of mental health disorders, as well as information on any mental health resources available to students. Provides that the unit of instruction shall be appropriate for a student's educational level. Provides that each school board shall determine the minimum amount of instructional time. Provides that the State Board of Education shall prepare and make available to all school boards resource materials that may be used as guidelines for the development of the unit of instruction on mental health. Effective immediately.
