HOUSE BILL No. 1028
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
public safety.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. IC 10-12-2-4 IS AMENDED TO READ AS
FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2013]: Sec. 4. The department may
establish, operate, and make necessary contributions to a mortality
reserve account for the payment of supplementary death benefits to
deceased employee beneficiaries. However, a supplementary death
benefit may not exceed:
(1) fourteen thousand five hundred dollars ($14,500), for an employee beneficiary who dies before July 1, 2013; or
(2) twenty thousand dollars ($20,000), for an employee beneficiary who dies after June 30, 2013.
