        A RESOLUTION honoring William T. Murphy.
    

    Whereas, William T. Murphy has dedicated his life to helping and caring for others;

    Whereas, Born on April 11, 1928, to Clarence and Martha (Farr) Murphy in Bloomington, William T. Murphy attended Fairview Elementary School, Bloomington High School, and Indiana University, where he earned a degree;

    Whereas, Mr. Murphy also received degrees from Drew Theological Seminary, the University of Indianapolis, and Franklin College;

    Whereas, William T. Murphy has served the faithful at Erie

Methodist Church, Centenary Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist Church in Bedford, First United Methodist Church in Linton, DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church in New Albany, the Memorial United Methodist Church in Terre Haute, and Whitestown United Methodist Church;

    Whereas, William T. Murphy served as the district superintendent of the Indianapolis South East region, the executive director of the Franklin United Methodist Home, and the interim director of the Asbury Towers Retirement Community and the Glenburn Home;

    Whereas, William T. Murphy also served the United Methodist Conference as chairman of the board of Christian Social Concerns, division of Outdoor Ministries, Screening and Strategy, Interboard Council;

    Whereas, In addition to his work with the United Methodist Conference, William T. Murphy served as a Franklin City councilman for 16 years and was the Central Indiana Council On Aging's Advisory Board president for four years;

    Whereas, William T. Murphy was named Administrator of the Year by the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aging in 1992 and inducted into this group's Hall of Fame in 2006; and

    Whereas, Such compassion and dedication to humanity is not often seen in another human being: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives thanks William T. Murphy for his dedication and service to the people of the state of Indiana.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to William T. Murphy and his family.
