Synopsis: Applications for federal grants. Specifies that a county
executive may not submit an application for federal grant funds or
grants payable from federal funds allocated to the state unless the
application is first approved by resolution of the county council.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning local
government.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. IC 36-2-6-23 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
1, 2011]: Sec. 23. The executive of a county may not submit an
application for:
(1) federal grant funds available under any federal grant program; or
(2) grants payable from federal funds allocated to the state for distribution to units of local government;
unless the application is first approved by resolution of the county fiscal body.
