Summary

Create new sections of KRS Chapter 164 to define "institution of postsecondary education," "institution," "security guard," and "security officer"; establish requirements for a police officer employed by a private institution of postsecondary education; permit a governing board of a private institution of postsecondary education to establish a security department and employ security guards or security officers; amend KRS 15.380 to require police officers employed by private institutions of postsecondary education to be certified; amend KRS 61.360 to prohibit new appointments of special local peace officers for the protection of private property; amend KRS 164.955 to set forth the requirements for police, rather than security officers, at institutions of postsecondary education; amend KRS 164.950, 164.960,164.965, 164.970, 164.975, 164.980 to conform.
