An Act relative to campaign accounts of judges.



                Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 7 of chapter 55 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the words “seven A” in line 50 the following words:- , seven B

SECTION 2. Said chapter 55 is hereby amended by inserting after section 7A the following section:-

Section 7B. No candidate or candidate’s committee may continue to maintain a campaign fund or account subsequent to being confirmed to a position under the Massachusetts Constitution Part 2, Chapter 2, Section 1, Article 9. Such a candidate or candidate’s committee shall discontinue said account by dispersing, or returning committee funds not later than fifteen days after being confirmed or the day of taking the oath of office, whichever comes first.  Such expenditures of funds shall be done in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. 

Said candidate or candidate's committee shall file a report, pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, detailing the closing of said campaign fund, not later than ten days after the final dispersal of any funds from said fund.
