A bill to amend 1927 PA 175, entitled
"The code of criminal procedure,"
(MCL 760.1 to 777.69) by adding section 1m to chapter IX.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
CHAPTER IX
Sec. 1m. (1) The court shall assess $10.00 upon each defendant
who is sentenced for a misdemeanor or a felony in which the use,
sale, or possession of alcoholic liquor is an element.
(2) An assessment under this section shall be in addition to
any other fine or cost ordered to be paid. On the last day of each
month, the clerk of the court shall transmit the assessments
collected under this section to the supreme court of this state,
which shall use the assessments to defray the costs of tethering
the drug treatment court participants under chapter 10A of the
revised judicature act of 1961, 1961 PA 236, MCL 600.1060 to
600.1082. Funds collected under this section shall be in addition
to any funds disbursed to the drug treatment courts from the
justice system fund under section 181 of the revised judicature act
of 1961, 1961 PA 236, MCL 600.181.
