Substitute For

HOUSE BILL NO. 4821

A bill to amend 2004 PA 177, entitled

"Michigan law enforcement officers memorial act,"

by amending section 5 (MCL 28.785), as amended by 2020 PA 215; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 5. (1) The commission shall oversee do all of the following:

(a) Oversee the financing, design, and construction of a memorial monument dedicated to those individuals described in subsection (2). The commission shall solicit

(b) Solicit designs for the monument and shall select the final design.

(c) Maintain and upkeep the monument, subject to appropriation.

(2) All of the following shall must be inscribed on the Michigan law enforcement officers memorial monument:

(a) The name of each law enforcement officer and reserve law enforcement officer from Michigan this state who died in the line of duty.

(b) The name of each individual from Michigan this state who qualifies as an officer who died in the line of duty for purposes of inclusion on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial authorized by Public Law 98-534.

Enacting section 1. Section 7 of the Michigan law enforcement officers memorial act, 2004 PA 177, MCL 28.787, is repealed.
